Remove Duplicate Entries From Playlists Tool

The Remove Duplicate Entries From Playlists tool is a convenience command that will remove duplicate track entries from a selection of playlists.

For example, you may have dragged the same track to an iTunes playlist more than once. These copies aren't distinct track duplicates: they are copies of a single iTunes library track entry. This tool will remove all but one of these tracks from the playlist.

Ordinarily, Dupin would ignore these kinds of copies during "Get Dupes".

How To Use

This command does not require that "Get Dupes" be run. It does require that iTunes be launched so Dupin can access its playlists.

Select "Remove Duplicate Entries From Playlist..." from Dupin's Tools menu.

The Remove Duplicate Entries window will be displayed:

Remove Duplicate Entries

Choose the playlists you want to scan for duplicate track entries by putting a check in the checkbox next to a playlist. You don't have to scan all playlists at once. There may be situations where you only want to scan just a few playlists. Click on the "OK" button.

DO NOT engage or interact with iTunes once the scanning of playlists begins.

In a few moments, iTunes will update the playlists you have chosen, removing all but one of any superfluous duplicate track entries.
