Info

In the information area you can view the file's essential information. To allow a better overview the information is divided into several sections.


Change the order of the info sections
To change the order of sections open the Prefs: Info window, or click on the small arrow on the right edge of the info header, or Ctrl-click on a section header; a menu will appear where you may select the "customize area order" function.

Show and hide field of the sections
To optimize the displayed information to your needs you can hide fields in each section. Click on the small arrow on the right edge of the info header, or Ctrl-click on a row within a section; a menu will appear where you can select "customize field view", allowing you can deactivate and activate the desired fields.

Jump to sections faster
If the point "show anchors" in the prefs is activated several icons are shown within the header of the info section. They allow you to jump to the desired section with one click.

Color rows
To optimize the overview of the info section you can color field rows. To do so activate the row and choose a color from the color menu . (As long as a row is activated a highlight color is used.)

When one type of information is temporarily of special interest to you, click on the title of the relevant line in the Info window. The line will be highlighted in gray and it will stay that way when you move to the next file. This enables you to easily find your bearings in the Info window and compare file information.


Standard Info


Creator
Four character identification of the application with which the file was created. You can change the creator by selecting another one from the menu next to the creator field. You can modify the menu and create new submenus according to your needs. Simply write a creator code or drag a file with the wanted one into the activated field or the open menu.

File type
Four character identification of the file type. You can change the file type by selecting another one from the menu next to the type field. Label
Shows label color and meaning. You can change the label with the popup menu on the right edge of the field.

Creation
Date and time of file creation. You can change this information by typing in another date or choosing an entry from the menu next to the field. Within the menu there are several variables and you can add your own entries.

Modification
Date and time of the last file modification. You can change this information by typing in another date or selecting an entry from the menu next to the field. Within the menu there are several variables and you can add your own entries.

Size
File size "on disk". The value in brackets shows you the real, basic file size – without the resources (such as saved previews, etc). To get more information simply click into the field. It opens and shows additionally:
- filesize in bytes
- bytes of data (without resources)
- bytes of resources (e.g. previews)
and about folders:
- number of enclosed object. This means all objects, even those contained by enclosed folders and invisible items.

Width x Height
Width x height in pixels of image files.
This information is not available for all file types.

Resolution
Resolution in pixels per unit.
This information is not available for all file types.

Color
Color mode, bit depth and included process colors. If there are spot colors used a hint is given here.

Alpha channels
Alpha channels in the image file.
This information is not available for all file types.

Clipping path
Included clipping paths in eps, tiff or jpeg files.

Data format
IInformation about the data format, e. g. postscript version, code or alias.


EXIF data (jpeg, tiff)

Exif information is added by digital cameras to image files. It contains details about the shot such as exposure time or flash use.
The shown fields depend on the Exif 2.2 standard.

Special data (eps)

Special information used by some file types, such as former filename or creating host.



IPTC / Quicktime meta data

(jpeg, tiff, psd,eps)

IPTC metadata is special information in image files; it is meant to contain descriptions, keywords or copyright information.

The extended Version Informator Pro allows you to edit the IPTC and QT-User data. Read on this:

Includes
(eps)

Fonts and colors used in eps-files.



Volume

The hard disc on which the file lies, with information on how much memory is occupied on this volume and how much is available.



Path

Path to the activated file, volume and folder.
If you are more interested in path information you can open a path window. To do this click onto the "window" button at the bottom of the window and chose "path" from the popup menu.



Catalog Info

If you don't know what it is, you don't need it ;-)
