To get the most out of your experience printing labels with Digitally CD Label Xpress, it is advisable to you to read and follow the following printing related topics: The templates supported by the application for each type of label match the type, size and orientation in the printing sheet of their corresponding commercially available printing sheet templates. The labels positions are also placed according to the specifications of each template. So, it is not recommended to change the sheet's type, size or orientation because it could cause displaced printouts on the label sheets, or other unwanted effects. In the selection list of printing templates, the type and the dimensions of the sheet are shown; while in the Template Visualization Area you can see the orientation of the sheet and the label's distribution. Here we show the established characteristics of the printing sheets for each type of label and printing template:
In the present market there is a great diversity of printers and drivers for them. Each and every one of them has its own design characteristics, in which you'll find their own maximum printing area margins. These margins can't be modified by you and its dimensions depend on each brand and type of printer. There also exists printers without a maximum printing area permitting the printer to print over the whole printable surface, but if your printer does have these margins then the printed area will be smaller than the total area of the sheet used. Some margins are too small to present any problem with the sheets. Unfortunately, some printers do have smaller margins that could affect the printout of some types of templates, causing incomplete labels to be printed. This situation can be slightly compensated tuning the position of the labels but this could also cause displacements between printed labels and the shapes outlined in the sheet. You can detect if the printer being used has these margins or not with the PRINT TEST function. If the 1cm black box (approximately 0.39370 in) doesn't appear completely in the top left corner of the sheet, it is a sign that the selected printer has horizontal and vertical margins unchangeable by you, therefore it will be unable to print outside these margins.
It is highly recommended to print a test sheet with the PRINT TEST function before making the final label printout in the special label printing sheets. This lets you calibrate the position of the labels according to the printer's drivers own characteristics; it also avoids you,the user wasting any sheets. Once the test sheet is printed the outlined rectangles marking the labels position must be compared to the labels shape in the special sheets for making later adjustments in the labels position with the calibration buttons in the PRINT tag. |
