If there are source-directories and/or sub-directories that contain a file called PhotoSz.phzb or PhotoSz, then those directories are BackUp-Folders. Those folders keep unaffected from the entire process. PhotoSz ignores an skips them.
The specific file has a green icon and there is written „PhotoSz BackUp“.
If you want to proceed also those directories, you need to rename or delete this file. But notice that this file will automatically create by PhotoSz, if BackUps has to created. It's strictly recommanded to delete this file only, if you really know, what you do.
That can based on different reasons. You need to know that PhotoSz generally modifies all of your images in the given sources, if you do not define any filter rules.
Filter rules can be defined in several ways. Those are:
Filter
The button Filter at the bottom of the main-window allows you to define keywords. PhotoSz uses the keywords to find images that you want to skip. Therefore PhotoSz scans the file-names and if minimally one keyword is found in a file-name, then the file get skipped and keeps unaffected from the entire process. PhotoSz does not vary between uppercase or lowercase characters in the file-names.
To activate this filter, it is not enough to write the keywords. You need also to enable this filter. To enable it, you have to set a hook to the left box above, where is the label Filter keywords.
Advanced
If you click on the button Advanced at the bottom of the main-window, so you switch to another filter settings-view.
Smaller or same-sized images
Here you can tell PhotoSz that images which are smaller then the pixel-size have to be skipped. They keep unaffected from the entire process.
Also here you can tell PhotoSz that images which are in the same size of the pixel-size have to be skipped. They keep also unaffected from the entire process.
Applying limit
Here you can tell PhotoSz that images which are in the same size or larger then e.g. 1 MB have to be skipped. They keep also unaffected from the entire process.
Date
On the top of the main-window, at the right side, there is the Date. Right to it there is the date-selection-box and the button called Edit.
If you set a hook to that date, then you can define a specific date. PhotoSz will only modify images that are created or last-modified on that given date. All other images will fully skip and keep unaffected from the entire process.
If you do net set a hook to the date, PhotoSz normally work through all images in the sources.
Attention
You can use only one or two or all the filter methods mentioned above at the same time. That means, that images which are not affected from one filter-rule can possibly affected from one of the other two filter-rules.
Sample
You want to modify all your images and not only images from the specific date. However all images that have the partial string abc in their names must become filtered. Also each file that is 2 MB or larger must become filtered.
If you want to modify only images from for instance today and want to skip all other images in the same sources, then you need yo set a hook to the Date in the main-window above, at the right side. Then select the specific date, if needed.
If you do not set the hook for Date, then PhotoSz normally modifies all images in the sources.
In the directories you will find the file called PhotoSt.phzb or PhotoSz finden. This file has a green icon with the label `PhotoSz BackUp` on it.
PhotoSz assumes that each directory that contains this file is a BackUp directory. That is why PhotoSz skips those directories without do any changes to their content and keeps them unaffected from the entire process.
To enforce PhotoSz to work through also such directories, its enough to delete this file from the directories and restart the process again.
If you want to modify only images from for instance today and want to skip all other images in the same sources, then you need yo set a hook to the Date in the main-window above, at the right side. Then select the specific date, if needed.
If you do not set the hook for Date, then PhotoSz normally modifies all images in the sources.
That can have several reasons:
The performance of your computer can be a reason (to low hardware-performance). It is strictly recommended that you have at least 512 MB RAM and minimum 1 GHz CPU-Power (Processor).
If there are to much programs running at the same time and if the memory (RAM) is not enough, then this could be also a reason, why PhotoSz become slowly.
If you want to work through sub-directories and if you sources contain sub-directories that also contain sub-directories and so on and if there are lots of files to determine, then that can take maybe lots of time. The solution is to organize a clear and transparent amount of sub-directories. That means that you should not have to much sub-directories in sub-directories.
To large images. Images that are larger then 2 MB need also on modern computers more computing power. And even if there are lots of images to modify, then this seems like that PhotoSz has frozen for a longer time. But this is not the real case. In those cases PhotoSz is not able to update the progress-view quickly enough and then it seems that the software has frozen. But in fact PhotoSz is continuously working normally.
Solution
So long as no critical problems are there, for instance system alerts which say that there is not enough memory or hard disk space, and if no other running programs are frozen, then this means that also PhotoSz is just working normal and has to compute lots of bits and bytes.
Allow PhotoSz to continue its work and finish. If PhotoSz finishes with its job, the software will behave normal again.
If the operating system says that there is not enough memory or hard disk space, then that does not mean that this is a fault of PhotoSz. It can be also a result of the fault of another running program. But there can be also other reasons, for instance that your hard disk is maybe full. In such a scenario its recommended that you quit as fast as possible so much programs you can. In an extreme case its perforce to restart your machine.
Because PhotoSz supports some specific image-formats and those that are not supported cannot get modified by PhotoSz.
PhotoSz kann gegenwärtig folgende Bildformate einlesen und bearbeiten:
BMP |
Windows Bimap |
PNG |
Portable Network Graphic |
JPG, JPEG |
JPEG |
JP2, JPG2, JPEG2, JPF, J2K, JPX, JPM |
JPEG2000 |
By default PhotoSz tries to keep the original file-names and modifies them, if this is strictly desired. Also the file-types become changed if this is strictly desired.
In the main-window, approximately in the middle, you will find the following fields:
Save as
Here you can individually arrange that the file-type of each image has to keep the same of the original or that the file-type of all new images become for instance JPEG or PNG.
Filenames
Here you can arrange that the new file-name of each image has to keep the same of the original or that the new file-names become reorganized based on a rule that you can select here.
If the new file-names differ from what you want, then it can be that you have selected the wrong option here or you are using a profile-file and this file has loaded its configuration for that field.
Solution
Check the settings here for the next time and edit them how you like it. After that you can start the process.
You can the images shrink or stretch in the width or in the height based on the desired pixel-size.
If you for instance set the pixel-size for the width, then your images will also get proportionally adapted in the height, but with consideration to the width. However the proportional adaption can vary for each image and depends on the original resolution of each image.
The same happens if you for instance shrink or stretch your images in the height. The images become also proportionally adapted in the width, but with the consideration to the height.
At least each image get shrunk or stretched to the desired pixel-size with the correct scale, so that each image looks like the original but smaller or lager.
Because images that get modified in an earlier date could be stamped with a date. This is a precaution. Its not fine, if you stamp the date on images that has a date-stamp from an earlier process.
To avoid that images get modified that are smaller then the pixel-size, you need to click on the button Advanced first. In the settings-view you need to set a hook to the option 'Do not modify images smaller then the applying pixel-size' under the field 'Smaller or same-sized images'.
Then click to the button Back and restart the process by clicking on the button Apply.
That is because the option Applying limit in the settings-view of Advanced in the main-window is set to the limit of 1 MB. To modify all images you need to click in main-window on the button Advanced and select there under Applying limit the first option called 'Ignore limits ( Applying on all images )'.
Because it can be that the desired font is not installed on the operating system.
That problems occurs especially on Apple Mac OS X. Some fonts and/ or formats are sadly not supported from the operating system.
Select in the field called Effect in the main-window the option 'No effect'.
Select in the field called Effect in the main-window the option 'No effect'.
Before the watermark can get stamp on your images, you need to set the hook at the field Watermark in the main-window. Continuously one or more of the watermark-model-buttons have to be compressed. How you can see that they are compressed?
a) The compressed buttons seems different then the others.
b) The small button next to a model-buton with the label '...' is clickable.
That can have on several reasons. You need to organize your filter options good. First you need to know that PhotoSz will modify all images in the sources, if you have not defined any filter rule.

Sample

Normally PhotoSz replaces the original images by the new images. But there are several ways to avoid this.
You can back up (create copies) your images before starting the process.
You can create the new images in another directory.
You can strictly force that the original images have to be kept and not get deleted.
Back up
Click on the button Advanced in the main-window. In the next view set a hook to the first option called 'Back up images before edit them'.
PhotoSz will create a BackUp-Folder in each source and copy the original files to their BackUp-Folders before starting the main-process.
Create images to another directory
Click on the button Advanced in the main-window. In the next view set a hook to the first option called 'Create a new directory and create the images in it'.
The original images become unaffected from the process. All new images will directly create into another directory. PhotoSz asks you before starting the
process, where you want to create your new images.
Don’t remove original images
Set a hook to the option 'Don’t remove original images' at the bottom of the main-window.
The original images will not deleted. If the old file-names and the new file-names matching, then the new file-names get a prefix at the beginning of their names like
'New - '.
For instance PhotoSz creates from the original image 'Image.jpg' a new image called 'New – Image.jpg'. And the original image 'Image.jpg' keeps unaffected.
It is possible that you have forget to activate the specific option or you are using a profile-file that has its own settings. To activate the option click in the main-window on to the button Advanced and set a hook to the first option called 'Back up images before edit them'.
Click on to the small arrow at the right side of the first toolbar item (Open) and select the option 'Open source(s) in window'.
Klicken Sie auf der Symbolleiste, auf den letzten Eintrag (Einstellung), ganz rechts, und wählen von dort im ersten Eintrag „Language/Sprache/Dil“ die gewünschte Sprache aus.
Click on to the last toolbar item (Settings), at the right side of the toolbar, and select from the first field 'Language/Sprache/Dil' the language you want to use.
Normally PhotoSz does never become crashed. But if there is a crash, then it can have several causes. Check the following:
If your computer is to slow that can crash PhotoSz and other applications and maybe the entire operating system (low RAM memory). That can happen because of:
There are running to much programs and/or videos
Incompatible drivers (Wrong driver, damaged or missing module)
The network or peripheral devices like the writer or printer are totally utilized
If your hard disk has no free-space, then PhotoSz is not able to save the new created images and that will inevitably crash the software.
To large images need to much computing power. Therefore it can be that PhotoSz can freeze for a while, so you could think that PhotoSz has crashed, but its normally working. If you in a such situation try to click often to the application locked main-window, for instance to quit it, then PhotoSz can crash.
