TingoDB is a self-contained NoSQL database that can easily be embedded with any server-side JavaScript application and provide a local data storage utility.
TingoDB is compatible with MongoDB and its Node.js API, being capable of replacing MongoDB without any code changes.
This means you can just change a few settings in your application's configuration, and free it from depending on a MongoDB installation by packaging TongoDB with your code.
This increases portability without losing too functionality.
Of course TingoDB doesn't support the full spectrum of features MongoDB supports, but covers all the major and most used ones.
The developer's recommendation is to use an "upwards development model", meaning to code the application first in TingoDB, and if it has to expand and grow with the userbase, change to MongoDB at later stages of its development cycle as more features are needed.
Features:
- MongoDB compatible API
- Atomic updates and concurrent access
- B-Tree indexing
- Safe persistence
- Search, Sorting, Grouping
- MapReduce support
- Reasonable big data-sets
- Reasonable speed
Requirements:
- Node.js 0.8 or higher
