Ideal Image Slider was developed by the same developer that created Nivo Slider, one of the most popular jQuery-based slideshow plugins.
Learning from the experience he had with creating and maintaining the plugin's code, Gilbert Pellegrom created a simplified image slider tool, with no jQuery framework dependency and using modern coding tools like HTML 5 and CSS 3.
The slider's core is actually pretty lightweight compared to Nivo Slider, but this was done on purpose. The standard Ideal Image Slider package will contain only basic functionality and everything else can be installed via an extension.
So if the developer wants more image transitions, he can load an extension for that. If he wants fullscreen support, he can load another extension, and so on.
Basically instead of providing a bloated slider plugin, Ideal Image Slider comes as an extendable library that can be adapted to any project without sacrificing performance or page load times.
